Cricket Career from Beginning
Tushar Deshpande is a professional cricketer who plays for the Chennai Super Kings in the Indian Premier League (IPL). He is a right-arm fast-medium bowler who made his debut for Mumbai in the 2016-17 season of the Ranji Trophy.
Deshpande’s early career was marked by struggles and setbacks. He was initially rejected by the Mumbai selectors in U-19 team and had to work hard to improve his game and get noticed. He played in the local leagues and continued to hone his skills, eventually earning a place in the Mumbai team.
Deshpande’s breakthrough performance came in the 2018-19 season of the Vijay Hazare Trophy, where he took 20 wickets in 7 matches at an average of 16.75. This impressive performance earned him a place in the Delhi Capitals squad for the 2020 IPL at base price of Rs. 20 Lakhs.
Despite not getting many opportunities in his first season, Deshpande continued to work hard and was rewarded with a contract extension for the 2021 season. However, he was ruled out of the tournament due to injury.
